The Truth About Meditation: Meditation is often misunderstood. That is one reason why people avoid it. They don’t understand what it is supposed to do, and it is perceived as “work” or perceived as time consuming. What we are looking for in meditation is truth. But truth is hard to face sometimes since we live in an earthly illusion.
Meditation IS truth. It’s connection. It’s connection with you and through you to your higher self and to the “powers that be.” It’s connection to your spirit. And meditation is way, way more than mindfulness.
“Mindfulness” has become a popular buzz word the past few years, and to tell you the truth, many people don’t really even know what it means. It maybe just sounds trendy or cool. We do want to be mindful in meditation. But maybe not in the way you may think. (“Think” may be the operative word here).
To tell you another truth, we need to let go of our thoughts – release our conscious thinking; our thoughts – and focus instead on our breath, focus on the breath (life) flowing through the body, focus on the “right now,” and completely let go of the linear mind.
We meditate with and through the emotional body, the etheric body, not with the mind, not with the thoughts. Meditation is suspension of thoughts and the allowing of a different kind of learning to come in.
Meditation is an experience of deeper learning on an emotional body level, not a mental level. And then, in order to fully benefit from it, we must integrate that learning into daily life so that you can make positive, forward moving, lasting changes in your life. What is learned and felt on an esoteric level can be brought forth into the physical realms once we integrate it into our “reality.” This, then, is where we begin to see life change on the outside.
Now to tell you the truth, many people are afraid of change. We can truly get comfortable in our comfort zones and not want to leave them. This is another reason people may avoid meditating. But change is part of life, whether we like it or not. We aren’t here to stay stuck for decades. We are here to love and to learn about love and many other things. And for that to happen we need to change and grow.
Like an infant growing into adulthood, this kind of change is inevitable and quite unavoidable altogether. It’s something inherent in being incarnated here. We must change and grow whether we like it or not. Meditation can ease us along in that process.
Meditation, and the “mindfulness” part of it, is a dedication, a focus, a deliberate focus, on the connection and alignment of mind, body, and spirit. That is the truth.
